Let it Shine Ministries Statement of Faith

  1. The Bible: is the inspired, errorless true and complete Word of God to mankind. It is to be believed in all that it claims and obeyed in all it commands. Everything God wanted us to know about Himself is in its pages. All subsequent items in this Statement of Faith are based solely on the teachings of God's Word. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; Psalms 19:7-11; Psalms 119:89, 105, 130; John 17:17)

  2. God: created and controls all things that exist. He is eternal, holy, and unlimited in His power. As to His nature, He is a trinity: three separate, complete, and equal persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - in one inseparable God. (Psalms 90:2; John 1:3; Matthew 5:48; Jeremiah 32:17; Matthew 28:19)

  3. Man: was created sinless, in the image of God. He had freedom to choose whether to obey God or to disobey and follow his own desires, which God calls sin. Allowing themselves to be deceived by Satan, the great enemy of God and man, the first couple chose sin, and all mankind thus became sinful and alienated from God. As a result, man died spiritually and the image of God in him was darkened. He can by his own efforts neither find nor please God. (Genesis 1:27, 2:17,3:6; Romans 3:20, 23, 6:23a; Ephesians 2-1b)

  4. Jesus Christ: is the Son of God; the eternal, living Word of God and Savior of the world, through His death on the cross as God's perfect sacrifice for sin and His resurrection from the dead, through which He secured eternal life for all who believe in Him. Today He is preparing a home in heaven for His people; when all is ready He will return to earth and take them to live with Him forever. (John 1:1, 14, 17-18; Isaiah 53:5; John 11:25-26, 14:2-3; 1 John 4:14)

  5. Salvation: from sin is gained when any person, having been convicted by the Holy Spirit that he is a sinner and faces eternal judgment, repents of his sin and confesses it to God; believes that God's Son, Jesus Christ, died and rose again that he might receive forgiveness and eternal life and by faith calls on God to save him. (John 16:8-11; Acts 16:13, 17:30; Romans 6:23b, 8:29-30, 10:9-10, 13; John 10:28)

  6. The Good News: of salvation by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ, and the new life of love and good works which is to follow and manifest it, is to be proclaimed and demonstrated by God's people to all the peoples of the world, through evangelism, missions, discipleship and training for service. Because children so readily believe, special effort should be made to reach them for Christ and teach them to live for Him and grow to be like Him; and to train believers for that high and holy purpose. (Ephesians 2:8-10, 4:13-15; Matthew 28:19,20; Acts 1:8; Mark 10:14)
